About Me

Andrea Bagdy Williams

Working backwards, I have been an art teacher for seven years. I have worked in the public school system for an additional eight years as a Kindergarten teacher and a variety of other support positions. I obtained my M.S. in Elementary Education in 2000. I am also a photographer, earning my BFA in photography in 1994.

My husband Ryan and I began going on drives in the country when Covid hit. Some drives were focused on searching for the perfect property while others were simply getting to the know the area where we focused our search in Maryland. We looked for three years , putting an offer on one place in Frederick County, Maryland but were outbid. We got excited about a few other places including a beautiful piece of land that bordered a creek but was out of our price range. Another six months lapsed before we were able to close on our property in Hampshire County, West Virginia. It is located a bit further away than we originally hoped, but it came with an affordable price and a little unfinished cabin on the twenty-one acres. The cabin is nearly 30 years old but is unfinished, other than having a roof, floor, walls, windows and doors. The windows and two exterior doors need replacing so we are always on the lookout for new windows and possibly used doors.

We are still learning about the property from our neighbors and plan to fix up the cabin as a getaway for our family and friends. We appreciate using sustainable products and have already purchased the vintage kitchen and bathroom sinks. If you have a lead on other building materials or items let us know.

Speaking of vintage, feel free to poke around my Etsy shop/Andrea’s Point which specializes in vintage, family heirlooms, that I recently inherited. The sale will help fund our renovation. Follow along on our journey.
