Summer melted into fall.
I’m embarrassed that’s it’s been so long since I posted, but sometimes it’s easier to do a quick post on Instagram as opposed to documenting on the blog. August was filled with doctor’s appointments, a trip to see family in Louisiana, getting both boys settled in at school and the start of a new job. I was also busy adding items to my Etsy Vintage Shop and shipping items out. On September 1 we celebrated our one year anniversary of purchasing the land and cabin.
I’ve been at the new job for five weeks and I really like it. There is a big learning curve for me, but the staff and my supervisors are very understanding and gracious. I have been onboarded with three other women at the same time, so it’s good to have colleagues training with me.

In addition, we were also able to get my parents to the property at the beginning of August. We rented an AirBnB and had a great relaxing weekend. We really enjoyed the mid century interior decor, record collection that mimicked many of my parents favorites, and being away from home.
As far as the property, we have done some general work including finishing the outhouse, purchasing and painting a new front door, continuing to dig the trench near the fire pit and cultivating a food plot area in which were able to grow some tillage radishes. The drought this summer also meant that Ryan had to hand water all the trees he has planted and that takes a lot of time. We did get a few wild flowers from where we planted the slope mix and the camera has shown a variety of wildlife on the driveway.
The outhouse has darkened to a nice darker color and we left the trims unstained to show some contrast between trim and siding. I even took the time to paint the kick plate of the toilet black. The outhouse has been working well.
